France's decoration trade show for professionnals, will open its doors from 4th to 8th September 2009 at Paris Nord Villepinte. The twice-early show, held in January and September, welcome buyers, journalists and architects from across the globe to discover the latest trends in home decoration. The last edition held in january 2009, attracted 75 755 visitors, including 32 043 foreigners, despite a 12% drop in attendance due to the economic slump. Since its creation in 1995, Maison&Objet has become one of the most important decoration trade fairs in the world, alongside Milan and Frakfurt.

Five days of non-stop visiting are not enough to explore the 130 000 sq.m of stands, 3000 exhibitors, 8 halls, 4 associated shows and several displays. Maison&Objet is divided into 6 areas that each focus on a specific universe and style : tableware, home textiles, home accessories, arts & crafts, "Etnic Chic" and interior decoration, the last of which features a comprhensive selection of furniture brands. Room displays are the most popular with collections presented in reconstructed rooms in mock-up houses.

Four shows held at the same time present different categories : "Maison&Objet éditeurs" is devoted to fumishing textiles and wall paper, "M&O musées" is given over to the cultural object and gift market while "Outdoor-indoor" speaks for itself. "M&O projets" is reserved for specifiers, that is, decorators, architects, hotel owners, etc...looking for solutions to their interior decoration projects.

"Now! design à vivre" created in 2000, is devoted to young designers and focuses on innovative, unusual, artistic and poetic objects and furniture. The aims of "Now! design à vivre" are to present new products and ideas and provide an interdisciplinary meeting place for creative designers.

"Scènes d'inrérieur" is the other place to be. Directed at the top-of-the-range market, it includes the main designer labels in spectacular and prestigious displays.

Maison&Objet is also an observatory for journalists, design agencies and experts. Together, they analyse the latest tendencies and developments in interior design. Trends, styles, colours, materials, aspirations and lifestyles are all decrypted and collated for each trade show by trend hunters François Berbard, Elisabeth Leriche and Vincent Grégoire. They predict that the up-and-coming trend is "ReGeneration" or, more exactly, a poetic, multisensory future-looking home to revive and restore its occupants. New decorative stories focus on comfort and gentle living. Self-reviving serenity and harmonious sensuality soothe the body and mind to create a modern universe in which the human element and things beautiful find their rightful place and contribute to a marvellous sensation of well-being". Find out more by exploring the 3 steps of the "Body House", "Delight" and "Sense fiction" exhibition!

Drawing solely from the Arts Décoratifs collections (Arts Décoratifs, Mode et Textile, Publicité), the exhibition explores numerous domains in which red is an inescapable element, and the different symbolism of this colour in all societies down the ages. Among the themes evoked are danger, hell, pleasure, power, luxury, dressing in red, the timelessness of red in the decorative arts and the various techniques and materials of red.
