This is the first event to be entirely dedicated to Old Master paintings dating from the Middle Ages to the 19th century, with artists such as Brueghel the Elder, Jacopo Bassano, François Clouet, Horace Vernet and Canaletto. A convivial fair with a T-shaped plan where each exhibitor has a 35 square metre stand, Paris Tableau is organised chronologically and according to schools. The silversmith workshop RICHARD was created at the dawn of the 20th century. Edmond RICHARD, silversmith for a craft maker in Paris decided to open his own workshop in 1910. He took over the Grandvigne, established at 30 Gravilliers Street. This house was specialized in classic silverware crockery and dishes. Edmond decided to turn his work towards silver tableware, which is to say the craft making of cutlery in sterling silver. At that time the Temple quarter, in the heart of Paris, was home to numerous workshops of the kind. Edmond became notorious in this field with a few cutlery designs other models would come and complete the collection at a later date.

So one century after its foundation, RICHARD House has become one of the rare Parisian workshops to have kept its original workshop and genuine &lsquosavoir faire&rsquo. It also remains the renowned specialist in all restoration works and in the making of solid silverware. It has to this day numerous designs from the most classic to the most contemporary.

Hella Jongerius

Designer Hella Jongerius (1963) has become known for the special way she fuses industry and craft, high and low tech, tradition and the contemporary. After graduating Eindhoven Design Academy in 1993 she started her own design company, Jongeriuslab, through which she produces her own projects and projects for clients such as Maharam (New York), Royal Tichelaar Makkum (The Netherlands), Vitra (Basel) and IKEA (Sweden). Her work has been shown at museums and galleries such as the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum (New York), MoMA (New York), the Design Museum (London), Galerie KREO (Paris) and Moss gallery (New York).
