Kukkia Co.,Ltd was born in Japan July 2009 when Kaz, inspired by time as a child spent in her Grandfather's woodshed, reminisced over the comforting woody smells of his carpentry and teamed up with Novi to create their first wooden toy collection -gg*. The concept behind Kukkia, meaning "bloom" or "flower" in Finnish and "kuki" which means stem in Japanese, is to make beautiful toys and objects that are not just educational but also bring big smiles to children and adults alike.

At Kukkia they want materials they use to be tactile---to look and feel natural and also to have colours that are both calming and appealing to the eye. They also want kids to get involved with their toys and use their wonderful imaginations to create, change and re-invent how to play---there are no limits!

While Joy de Rohan Chabot&rsquos little classmates were starting to write their first phrases, her artistic nature began to appear. Indeed, drawing and the imagination took a far greater place for Joy than did writing, which was a real nightmare for her, due to her suffering from a certain form of dyslexia. To compensate for this problem, drawing very quickly emerged as her means of expression. When only just 17 years of age, Joy de Rohan Chabot was admitted to the École des Arts Décoratifs (renowned French grand école of art and design) with the ambition of making her passion into her profession.

Joy has green fingers, in fact, if it had not been for painting she would have liked to become a gardener. Moreover, nature became her principal inspiration. She describes her work as poeticising reality. From her earliest childhood Joy de Rohan Chabot dreamed of imaginary gardens, which thus naturally became a recurrent theme in her collections.
