Living in Style Paris by Debra Derleux Matos Edited by Caroline Sarkozy.220p. 2010.

Paris is undeniably the most stylish and glamorous city in the world. With its rich and complex cultural past, it has become the creative cradle in interior design and French savoir faire. In Parisian interiors, designers have mixed the traditional with the unexpected and influences from other faraway places, creating a very unique Parisian style. Tucked behind the walls of the capital of refinement and romanticism, living quarters of exceptional and rare beauty await to be discovered.

Our tapestries, as well as our carpets, are all hand-made. Rugs can be woven according to different techniques, such as hand-tufted, hand knotted Savonnerie, or flat weave hand woven carpets. It is thanks to the extraordinary and well-recognized know-how of our weavers, which allows our manufactory to be labellised as a Living Heritage Company, and thanks to our master-dyers who work by eye, that our clients&rsquo imagination is our only limit. Custom-made is, of course, our specialty.

Born on the 10th of May 1988, Geoffroy Gillant studied product design at ESAD Reims (France) where he obtains a DNAP (Bachelor, 2009) and a DNSEP (Master, 2012), both with honours. During these studies, he experienced working as an assistant both for Tomás Alonso in London and for Julien Carretero in Eindhoven, that has confronted him to several cultures and ways of working as an independant designer and also as a part of a collective.

Involved in developing an experimental research and an anthropological afterthought within his projects, creation represents for him the opportunity to expand his own consciousness and to share his thoughts and results with people.

Attaching importance to contemplating, he especially finds inspiration in things where matter and spirit meet. Thus, the mysterious beauty of Space and Nature, sacred architectures or objects and also some Minimal Art and New British Sculpture works are his main inspirations.
