Etandart

Mina Ben Miled is a Tunisian architect whose passion is traditional handicrafts. She created her Etandart company in 1993 and has ever since been revewing various fields of the local know-how in order to create items that combine tradition with modernity and  use natural fibers and components.  Her throws and curtains are made of hand spun and woven natural wool (Haik). Her Kilims harmoniously combine wool with glittering lurex and her mats are unusually colorful. All items are traditionally crafted. Yet, a major part of her production focuses on cotton textiles, table mats, bed throws, and mainly Foutas.

The latter are crafted on antique traditional Jacquard looms. They come in different sizes, with a wide variety of patterns, and textures which make them perfectly absorbant and well adapted to multi-purpose use.  The high quality of their weave and finish (with hand rolled tassles) makes them a unique and refined ecological alternative to conventional bath towels. Mina Ben Miled&rsquos very wide range of products has been regularly exhibited at Maison et Objet in Paris, France, and at New York Now in New York City, Usa.

Teresa Sapey
Teresa Sapey is an italian architect an interiorism desing artist. She studied a degree in architecture at the Polytechnic University of Turin, where she graduated in 1985, and completed her academic training in Paris with another BFA degree at the Parson School of Design and a Master at La Villete.
