    Karen Swami

Taught by Christa de Copet at the Atelier de la Terre d’Argile (the Earthenware Atelier), and then trained on the wheel by Thierry Fouquet, Karen Swami has always nursed a passion for ceramics. Focusing on both form and material, her fascination for the Far Eastern masters pushes her to seek, above all, a purity of line. Having committed the Musée Guimet’s collection to heart, she remains mesmerized by its forms and attentive to its mysteries. Karen Swami aims to translate the ephemeral beauty of raw clay, its fragility and flux, into the quasi-eternal fixity of fired clay.  In porcelain, bisque, smoke firing or raku, her creations remain ever unique.

Karen Swami exhibits Pad / Tuileries from 31th march to 3rd april 2016 Booth 26.
