Decorating with Carpets. A fine Foundation. by Ashley Stark Kenner, Chad Stark and Heather Maclsaac. Ed Abramsbooks. 248p. October 2015.

More than any other element of a room, and as the largest and most expensive component of any design scheme, the effect a carpet has on a space is every bit as great as its size. Decorators have long recognized the importance of a fine carpet, its impact on the colors and textures of a space, its contribution to creating an atmosphere, its feel of luxury, and, with the best examples, its lasting worth. Decorating with Carpets taps the extensive and remarkable archive of Stark Carpet for interior design’s greatest examples.

Two friends from South West France bought Airborne which faced economic challenges at the time. They became the new owners of the Airborne Company and of the "AA by Airborne" trademark. Well aware of the fabulous inheritance which they just acquired, they took the greatest care into putting back the mythical chair on the market and therefore created Airborne Design, the sole authorised maker and distributor of the make since 1951. The Model 100% linen is wonderful for the garden.

Their workshops are located in St Jean de Luz, at the heart of France’s Basque Country, where textile expertise is handed down across generations, and recognised all over the world.  Although hemp was used for nearly 3,000 years, it all but disappeared in the 50s, falling victim to the chemical industry lobby. For the founders of Couleur Chanvre, the choice of this fibre is an act of open activism, as they believe that hemp is an ideal plant for sustainable development which protects our planet.

Couleur Chanvre is firmly committed to 100% French production. Each production stage takes place in France,  the hemp they use is grown and shelled in Normandy, and the weaving, tailoring and the crucial dyeing process takes place at their St Jean de Luz site. Each of their artisans is passionate about this incomparable natural fibre and many use ancient methods. The common theme of their collections is beauty, elegant simplicity, respecting nature, well-being and long lasting...the definition of luxury.

    Legle

Scènes d'Intérieur Hall7 Booth G90. For over 50 years, Legle have used their knowledge to develop a range of high melting coloured glazes (fired to over 1100ºC), which are unique in the world. Each glaze is created at the heart of the company, from its formulation to its production launch. This experience with high melting glazes has made Legle, with a catalogue containing over 25 colours, a market leader in this sector. Our coloured glazes' unique appearance in terms of depth and gloss is a measure of the quality achieved by qualified employees, who are always ready to listen.

Porcelain which has been coloured in this way is fired to a high temperature in our kilns, then sorted in order to discard defective items. Finally, the gilders delicately apply the gold and platinum to the rim and marly of the plates as well as to the cup handles and rims. This meticulous work requires experience, skill and dexterity; due to the fact that the line must not waver and must be of a constant thickness. The gold and platinum are then matured in the kiln to around 820ºC, in order to fix them to the porcelain. The gold is then polished to give it lustre and shine. In this way, Legle immortalises the image of the great French tradition of the art of living throughout the world.
