The word "pot-pourri" comes from French and literally means "pot-pourri", meaning a pot in which several things are mixed, in this case flowers, spices, herbs and essential oils in the case of fragrant pot-pourri. The term appeared in France in the seventeenth century to designate a fragrant preparation based on flowers and spices put in a pot to spread their perfume. Since then, pot-pourri has been a French tradition and is widely used to perfume houses and interior spaces.
