Kukkia Co.,Ltd was born in Japan July 2007 when Kaz, inspired by time as a child spent in her Grandfather's woodshed, reminisced over the comforting woody smells of his carpentry and teamed up with Novi to create their first wooden toy collection -gg*. The concept behind Kukkia, meaning "bloom" or "flower" in Finnish and "kuki" which means stem in Japanese, is to make beautiful toys and objects that are not just educational but also bring big smiles to children and adults alike. At Kukkia we want materials we use to be tactile---to look and feel natural and also to have colours that are both calming and appealing to the eye. We also want kids to get involved with our toys and use their wonderful imaginations to create, change and re-invent how to play---there are no limits! We love simple and stunning style here at Kukkia and always aim to satisfy. That's why we play with all our toys ourselves (a bit too much!) and hold kids workshops so we can learn from them! In 2011, Kukkia launched a new toy collection kiko+. The idea of kiko+ ("ki" means wood and"ko" means child in Japanese) is to have some matt, non varnished wooden items (some are painted brilliant colours), that show children the real touch/feel of wood. A bright, funky colour scheme adds zest to items also popular with adults. All kiko+ toys are made with FSC wood from sustainable sources and have the CE safety mark as standard. Our packaging is also simple and stylish using a matt black finish that compliments the toys and makes them stand out.
