String

String is a Swedish company based in Malmö. The architect Nils Strinning (1917-2006) drew the first String shelf in 1949, allowing him to win the first Bonner Award in the same year, then a gold medal at the Milan show in 1953. Its minimalist étgères system has helped to lay the groundwork for what is now called Scandinavian design. Today, over 67 years later, String shelves are still installed all over the world.
