Coquecigrues

The word "Coquecigrues" was born under the pen of the writter Rabelais around 1534; this "Poetry" evokes all the dreams inside us. In 1792, those "Coquecigrues", mythical creatures, half insect, half bird, reappear in one of the famous Toile de Jouy motivs. Our eponym company creates small pieces of furniture, lamps, curtains, embroidered textiles in this famous XVIIIth style in which everyone can find inspiration and memories of the past, one and of item, fruit of a constantly evolving creations. Located in a green setting a few kilometers from Paris, Coquecigrues is a craft business that creates and manufactures textiles, small furniture and lighting. These three complementary collections, inspired by the French heritage of the eighteenth century provide a new access to the past. Designed and produced with the utmost care, each piece is inspired by antiques or decorative elements of French tradition. Fascinated by the ability of an object to tell a story, Monique Campuzan built the company on the idea of revisiting the past and reviving it. If she was one of those who have chosen the eighteenth-century style as a source of inspiration for interior decoration, Monique Campuzan was the first to decorate fabrics with lace, embroidery and monogramming. Founded in 1994, Coquecigrues now has a turnover of 1.6 million Euros of which sixty per cent is exported. Coquecigrues sells its products to deco shops, decorators and now to hotels.
